Convocation 8th 2017

The President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain conferred Degrees in the convocation of Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) on November 29, 2017.

At the eighth PIEAS convocation, degrees were conferred to the successful candidates of PhD, MS, and BS in the discipline of Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation and Medical Oncolgy, Medical Physics, Physics, Materials Engineering, and Process Engineering.

The President, in his address, emphasized on acquisition of modern science, engineering and technical education for socio-economic development of the country .

He called for making science a source of national progress. The President underscored the need to focus on scientific research and education to put the country on a trajectory of growth and progress. Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Chairman, Muhammad Naeem (HI, SI) and Rector PIEAS Nasir Majid Mirza felicitated the students who received degrees and distinctions on this occasion.

Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) is a leading university of the country being run under the aegis of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission The awardees included thirty-five (35) PhDs, two hundred and eighty-four (284) MS, and one hundred and sixty-two (162) BS students. Ten (10) Gold Medals, forty (40) Merit Certificates and twenty-Eight (28) Certificates of Appreciation were also awarded to outstanding graduates.

PIEAS is devoted to higher education in specific disciplines of engineering, natural sciences, medical sciences and formal sciences. PIEAS has one hundred and forty-seven (147) highly qualified full-time faculty members in the diverse fields of physical sciences, engineering and medicine including more than 100 PhDs.

These faculty members have PhD degrees from reputed institutions of USA, Canada, UK, Germany , France, China, Japan, Austria, South Korea and Australia. PIEAS graduates have been decorated with two (2) Hilal-e-Imtiaz, ten (10) Sitara-e- Imtiaz, fifty (50) President's Pride of Performance (PoP), eleven (11) Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one (1) President's Medal for Technology, one (1) Aizaaz-e-Kamal, three (3) Aizaaz-e- Fazeelat and twelve (12) Best Teacher A wards.

The number of PhD graduates produced by PIEAS has crossed one hundred and eighty (180) which is the largest number as compared to any other national engineering university.
